Smartphone buying Guide

Confused about smartphones?

Well there are numerous smartphones out there , people always get confused about which phone to get their hands on it. Alright let's get straight to it.
The first thing is all about money. If you can spend a lot of money, close your eyes and get the latest iPhone available. You won't be disappointed.
Or
If you're concerned about money , then there are three categories where each phone falls into one of them.
1. Low -end
2.Mid - range
3. High end or power packed phones

Low end phones
Usually low end phones have very low Hardware[HW] specs , and due to that these phones doesn't get any future upgrades . we're talking about android here. But still these phones perform well with all basic apps. But keep in mind these phones won't receive any updates , multitasking will be a headache, can't play graphic intensive games, can't take decent photos and etcetera. There are 'android one' phones out there, where these devices are promised to receive the latest update available even though their HW specs are low. If anyone wants to explore only about android os then they can get one but still it is not really a good choice to get one of those. The price range of low end phones we're talking here is under 8000rs. So unless if you're in a hurry , don't get a low end phone . Get a mid range phone in a discount price at the right time.

Mid range phones
These are the handsets which are used widely by the people around the world. But buying a mid range phone is a very difficult thing. Never ever look at the specs of a handset and buy it. Always do a little research by looking into YouTube. The price range of this category will be under 17k. So every midrange phone will have a unique specialty such as ,
1. Better camera
2. Display
3. Audio output
4. Battery capacity
5. Build quality
So in every mid range phone either one or two of these things will be of higher quality. There are many phones with 13mp sensor at the back and 5-8 mp sensor at the front. Megapixels isn't the only thing to be considered in a camera. Always look for aperture with 2.0 or less than that. The lower aperture allows the camera to absorb more light for brighter pictures and make sure a flash is present for low light photography. Next look at the display , if its a 720p or 1080p screen means its worth buying it and always ensure it is of gorilla glass display as it protects the display from cracking . Majority of the smartphones have a single speaker but if you're more concerned about the audio, then get a phone with dual speakers . Battery life of a smartphone is a very important factor to be considered among other things. Make sure the battery capacity is higher than 2500mah or higher . But even if the capacity is higher , the phone's operating system should be optimized in such a way that the phone still holds some juice till the end of the day. When it comes to build quality , mid range phones are usually made in plastic so we just have to get one and use it very safely. Bottom line get a premium brand's popular smart phone where many people uses it. In that way , the phone will have CM support ie CyanogenMod support. Many people doesn't know about CM but before going into that the person should have a little knowledge about rooting, flashing, boot loader , kernel etc. We'll post an article about them very soon. Believe me CyanogenMod is an interesting thing to be known. So deep down , always lay your hands on a popular mid range phone.

High end phones
When it comes to high end handsets its all about business. If you're willing to spend more money on a smartphone , don't go to any shops and ask the persons working there to tell us some things about the higher end handsets, believe me they'll confuse you and even say wrong details about the phone. Go to YouTube and check out some videos about reviewing, unboxing, and versus videos. So at the beginning we'll make a list of high end phones , and while comparing them each phone beats other one or performs better than others in different departments . Samsung always wins in camera and display departments. Followed by Sony, HTC and Motorola. When it comes to performance Motorola and HTC beats every other smartphone easily. The performance of these high end phones are affected by heavy theming and bloatware. This is why Samsung , lg and Sony smartphones lag while multitasking. The display will be either full HD or quad HD. The full HD phones have 1080p resolution and these high end phones easily handles it. But when it comes to quad HD phones they have 1440p resolution and they require a lot of power to push the pixels and the battery life will also be not good. My opinion would be to buy a nexus phone. They are far better than any other smartphones in the market. So guys I know you're confused , so we'll post an article every month regarding the best smartphone available. This post was completely written by me and its my choice of selecting a smartphone based on these things. Let me know what you guys think..

Android Lags ? Discover why..!

A smartphone is powered by a System-on-Chip (SoC). As the term says, an SoC contains the whole system on itself, on one platform.

All the necessary hardware is there like CPU, RAM, GPU, Modem, Signal Processor, etc. The CPU processes the application threads and the data being used by it is stored on the RAM.

I want to keep it simple for everybody to understand.
In layman terms, a phone lags when it is put to a task it can not handle. There are multiple threads being processed by a smartphone even when it is not being used by you and lying idle.
---
# If the CPU has to process multiple long threads, it lags as soon as things get beyond its processing capability. As and when it happens the SoC heats up and that further promotes lag and stutter because an overheated CPU is like an exhausted horse.

Not to forget, there is a GPU as well which is a processor which only deals with graphics and visuals which you see on the display, and the same principle applies to it as well but only in context of graphic processing.

And even if the CPU and GPU are good at computing everything which you throw at them, you need to have enough memory i.e. RAM to keep all those threads running.
-
MORAL- Your smartphone should be equipped well with good quality hardware to handle all tasks which you require to perform on it.
SoCs with smaller thermal footprint are more efficient. That is why newer SoCs are made using smaller nano-architecture because it helps in keeping the SoC from overheating while performing great on heavy gaming. For example- Snapdragon 805 is built using 28nm architecture whereas the upcoming 808 and 810 use 20nm technology to reduce thermal footprint and enhance efficiency.
---
# Many applications especially on Android OS keep running in the background and you can't kill them if you don't feel like using them at that moment. These include all the utility apps, Facebook, Maps, Youtube, Mail, Google+ and many other third-party apps as well.
The moment you kill them with a task killer, they re-appear. Killing such an application never helps, it only makes harder for the CPU as it has to re-work the thread.
-
MORAL- - Don't use a task killer for all-time running apps. Never use the auto-kill feature on a task killer. The CPU is programmed well to manage multiple apps.
---
# Now the question arises that why do smartphones start to lag as time passes. Its simple. As we are progressing in the Android ecosystem, the apps are getting heavier, more data-intensive, graphic-intensive with every update which requires more memory and processing power. As a result, the amount of free-RAM for a new heavy thread to be processed (like when you start a 3D game) keeps diminishing with time and keeping the same old CPU for heavier new apps shouldn't help.
-
MORAL - Only load your phone with apps which are essential to you if you are low on hardware terms. As we go ahead in time our smartphones go obsolete due to advancement in application softwares. Although some major enhancements in system softwares like Project Butter and replacing Dalvik Runtime with ART on Android helps a lot in achieving a lag-free experience.
---
Summing it up...
Both hardware and software advancements go hand in hand. Hardware has to be enhanced to cater to the needs of heavier and more-feature rich OS and apps. As far as the current scenario looks, the hardware seems to take the lead because its getting both cheaper and more advanced with time.
Three years ago, when I bought my first smartphone with a single-core processor and 512MB RAM for INR 16.7K, any other cheaper phone couldn't offer a lag-free experience due to one or other reason. And even my phone started lagging after a year even with essential pre-loaded apps.

But today, you get a phone for INR 6K which offers good lag-free performance on essential apps with a far more efficient Quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, Stock Android with 60fps transitions, no bloatware and prompt firmware updates.
And by this I don't mean to say that the new cheaper phone with better hardware will never lag or stutter but it will definitely take more time for it to be rendered as a brick.
With the coming of technologies like ARMv8 instruction set, tinier nano-architecture on chips, 64-bit SoCs and OS, ART, etc. the future seems bright and lag-free.
:-)

Phone slows down ? Boost it up..!

Hey everyone ,in this generation everybody has a android phone, but not everyone's phone is fast enough to handle tasks etc..
Some think my phone is very slow i dont know why ?

There are very few common things that every android user should know about phones.
-> Android phone's cant be infected by virus etc..

-> Android is linux based so it doesnt need antivirus. It protects itself automatically.
-> Your phone is slow and lagging everywhere becuase
* U might have CM security, avast or cleanmaster and other shit apps that always runin background and consumes Ram and Battery.

Next Big Thing is Battery.!!
Every phone can last a whole day with moderate usage..!(not gaming :-/ )
Andoird Doesn't need battery savers, logically speaking anything that runs on ur phone needs battery..! Think.! Battery savers are just visual presentation to your eyes, just
shows attractive graphical information about your battery, its just a useless crap that sucks your Ram and Battery..!
If you really want to conserve your battery, your android phone must have a inbuilt battery saver.

Settings-Battery-Check options there..!
Next Article is about getting the most performance and battery out of your Android Device..!
